Being a real estate investor has it’s challenges, but it’s also very rewarding. If you’re willing to fight through all the ups and downs, then this business can be very good to you and your family. The picture above is the very first investment property we ever purchased. We were able to get into the real estate business by saving up money from our 9-5 jobs, and then educating ourself on the process of finding a great deal, negotiating that great deal and then purchasing it!
There were challenges of working around our work schedule, finding contractors, knowing what all needed to be repaired, estimating the cost of those repairs, and sometimes just not knowing what the heck was the next step! We were constantly educating ourselves by reading material about business and real estate, and also reaching out to ask other professionals that had some experience with real estate investing.
In the end we made plenty of mistakes, and our project that should’ve taken 2-3 months actually took 6 months, but the lessons we learned were priceless! There were times when we wanted to give up and throw in the towel. There were times when we didn’t know where the money we needed would come from, but we still somehow completed the job. Sometimes you have to be creative and dig deep!
If there’s any advice I can tell you if you’re interested in getting into real estate investing, it would be to not give up! Don’t stop, even when you don’t know what’s next. Don’t stop, even when you don’t know where the needed capital will come from. Don’t stop, when others are telling you that you’re crazy and in over your head.
